OSHA 29 CFR 1910.38 Employee Emergency Planning Standard, requires that every employer have an emergency plan to protect their employees. To fully comply with OSHA emergency planning guidelines and to ensure that appropriate actions are taken in an emergency situation, several pieces of information must be conveyed to employees throughout the plant or facility. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.165

Employee Alarm System Standard recommends that an employee alarm system may be required to alert employees of threatening situations.
